Kiwanis Club of Beverly President-elect, Dean Porteous, recently attended Kiwanis International's Leadership, Education and Training Program held in Hyannis, MA.
Mr. Porteous will be serving as President of the Kiwanis Club of Beverly for the year 2001-2002, and will be installed on October 5, 2001 at the Danversport Yacht Club. Recent club activities have included projects such as a golf marathon and car wash to benefit youth sports leagues, community dinners and scholarships for Beverly, Hamilton and Wenham students. Porteous will be serving as club President on the worldwide Kiwanis leadership team with newly elected Kiwanis International President Brian Cunant. Kiwanis International's major service focus, a program called "Young Children Priority One," will continue during 2001-2002. Last year, Kiwanis clubs around the world raised and spent more than $100 million on community service activities, with a special emphasis on meeting the needs of young children.
