The Kiwanis Club of Beverly, will hold a "Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast" on Saturday, March 13, 2004 in celebration of the 100th birthday of Dr. Seuss. The event will be held at the ICC, 302 Rantoul St., Beverly from 8 a.m. to noon.
The colorful breakfast is right out of the Dr. Seuss book, The Cat in the Hat, who is expected to attend. Children will enjoy other favorite storybook characters who are on the guest list too. Members and volunteers will read favorite storybooks to the children, have games, face painting, and other activities for young guests. Children are FREE, when accompanied by an adult. The adult admission is $5.00. Everyone is invited. Membership in Kiwanis is not required. This is the 2nd year that Beverly Kiwanis will recognize storybook writer, Dr. Seuss. The special "Green Eggs" recipe that is used for the event may find its way into an upcoming cookbook that the club plans to publish later this year. The Kiwanis Club of Beverly sponsors many other youth projects, including the Kiwanis-YMCA Basketball League and the Beverly High School Key Club. They also support the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center at the Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston.
