BEVERLY KIWANIS 9TH ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

This year's major corporate sponsor is the new local marketing firm, Direct Marketing Concepts, Inc. The company produces and markets informercials worldwide. They are located at the Cummings Center and currently employ over 70 area residents. Vice-President, Robert A. Maihos, said, "We have been quite successful in Beverly and it's good to give money back to the community. I am happy to be a part of the Beverly Kiwanis Golf Tournament and expect that the contribution by Direct Marketing Concepts will encourage more donations so the Beverly club can continue their good work on the North Shore."

The golf tournament includes 18 holes of golf, a custom golf jersey, lunch, raffles, and awards banquet. There will be two special contests. At one hole, a golfer will have a chance to win $1,000,000 for a hole-in-one, sponsored by Barrister Mortgage. At another hole, a golfer might win a 2003 Suzuki Aetio, from Kelly Nissan, for a hole-in-one.

A special community raffle will for a custom-fitted set of Titleist irons, a Callaway driver and a bag will be drawn at the evening banquet. Only 300 tickets will be sold and are available from any member of the Kiwanis Club of Beverly.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit the Beverly/Hamilton/Wenham Kiwanis Scholarship fund, and local community projects or youth and seniors alike. The Kiwanis recently co-sponsored the Beverly Police Bicycle Rodeo where many safety helmets were given away free to local bikers or all ages. They also worked with the Rotary Club of Beverly on the dedication of the bandstand on Beverly Common. The Beverly Kiwanis is best known for sponsoring the Kiwanis/YMCA Basketball League.

Beverly Kiwanis was established as a community service organization in Beverly over 70 years ago and serves Beverly, Hamilton and Wenham. It is a part of Kiwanis International which includes more than 8,000 clubs and nearly 300,000 members in more than 70 countries.
